Bamboo Grove Salon is pleased to announce our next exhibition featuring artists Marshall Stokes, Kim Hutchins, and Gabriel Weiss.
The exhibition will be on view in the gallery May 2nd through June 4th,
2008.
Marshall Stokes, former artist with Empire Squared in California,
studied architecture at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston,
MA. For this show, Marshall uses a technique called pyrography by
which he burns Japanese tattoo-style images on wood boards and
skateboard decks.
Self-taught artist Kim Hutchins has always been drawn towards pop
culture and the lowbrow art movement. Her work is both sad and
whimsical. She has spent the last several years perfecting her precise, linear style and playful imagery.
Gabriel Weiss explores the interface between western and Chinese
painting media in his paintings of Portlandia.
There will be a First Friday artist's reception on Friday, May 2nd
from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm.
Music will be provided by DJ Dr. FuManchu.
This is a free event.
The show will run through April 30th, with gallery hours Tuesday –
Saturday, 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
